The Sociedad Bach del Paraguay is a non-profit cultural entity, with recognized legal status, created in 2008 by a group of young Paraguayan musicians, at the idea and inspiration of maestro Diego Sánchez Haase, the main Paraguayan scholar of the music of J.S. Bach.
The main objective of the Bach Society of Paraguay is the promotion of baroque music in Paraguay, and especially the work of J.S. Bach.
To achieve its objectives, the Bach Society of Paraguay has formed its own ensemble: the BACH COLLEGIUM DE ASUNCIÓN, integrated by the most renowned Paraguayan specialists in the practice of the historical interpretation of baroque music.
The ensemble has the following configuration: 2 first violins, 2 second violins, 1 viola, 1 cello, 1 double bass, 1 flute, 1 harpsichord, 1 positive organ, 3 sopranos, 3 alto, 3 tenors and 3 basses.
Since its creation, the Bach Society of Paraguay has held an annual concert season, offering recitals of both vocal and instrumental baroque music, in different stages of Asunción.
